Position Overview:
Paradigm Recovery Center is a startup behavioral health treatment center providing structured, evidence-based treatment for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and integrated behavioral health care within ASAM 2.5 and 2.1 levels of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with Missouri scope of practice
- Provide medication management for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders
- Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
- Coordinate care related to MAT or psychotropic medications as clinically indicated
Clinical Collaboration & Treatment Planning:
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and leadership
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews
- Provide consultation regarding psychiatric symptoms and medication concerns
- Support referrals and discharge planning
Documentation & Compliance:
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record
- Maintain records consistent with Missouri regulations, HIPAA, and payer requirements
- Document assessments, progress notes, medication orders, and follow-ups
Safety & Risk Management:
- Assess psychiatric risk factors including suicidality and symptom escalation
- Respond to medication reactions or adverse events
- Communicate urgent clinical concerns promptly
Program Development (Startup Environment):
- Assist with psychiatric workflow and policy development
- Support program build-out and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain flexibility in a startup environment
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active, unrestricted Missouri APRN license
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Current DEA registration or ability to obtain
- Experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment
- Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills
Preferred:
- Experience in ASAM 2.1 and/or 2.5 levels of care
- Experience in PHP or IOP settings
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care
- Startup or program development experience
Schedule Expectations:
- Daytime and/or evening hours based on program needs
- Flexible scheduling during startup phase
Physical & Professional Requirements:
- Ability to conduct psychiatric evaluations for extended periods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
