Traveling Requirements: Occasional travel to/and from IBHC, NCHC.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to take over a well-established community clinic provider role. The candidate will be fully supported by experienced nurses and medical assistants to provide team-based care that is grounded by evidence-based best practices. This practice provides comprehensive care and is deeply rooted in the local community.

Founded in 1971, Imperial Beach Community Clinic (IBCC) is a fully integrated community based FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Clinic) non-profit with two clinics located in San Diego County, Nestor and Imperial Beach) and with over 100 employees.

Job Description

Provides psychiatric services including assessment/evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in assigned areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends provider meetings and clinic department gatherings as appropriate within time and schedule constraints.
  • Supervises Psychiatric DNP/PMHNP
  • Based on peer review findings, demonstrates medical/psychiatric knowledge and clinical skills; able to assess both medical and psychiatric information including patient presentation, differential diagnosis, psychopharmacology needs, referral to primary care or “medical home” providers and/or community support systems as appropriate, etc.
  • Coordinates and links psychiatric treatment plan with both IBCC case management and with community support systems as appropriate; provides consultation and support to primary care providers in the management of primary care patients with mental health concerns.
  • Demonstrates efforts to provide high quality customer service and patient/client satisfaction.
  • Documents appropriately and legibly in the medical record and completes mandated contract/program/clinic mental health paperwork: assures medication reconciliation.
  • Follows IBCC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains Basic CPR certification, DEA registration and annual CME units based on the requirements of the specifying Board.
  • Prioritizes work and makes an effort to adhere to schedule; demonstrates reliability and flexibility in meeting clinic site and organization needs
  • Provides comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of those with mental illness, emotional disorders and/or substance abuse.
  • As needed, examines patients to determine presence of physical disease utilizing physical findings, laboratory results and medical history; makes referrals.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medicine and completion of at minimum a 3-year residency in General Psychiatry.
  • Must maintain current CPR and DEA registration
  • Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California.
