POSITION SUMMARY:
This Psychiatrist manages the mental health care and provides appropriate treatment services to diagnose and assist persons with mental illness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Holds a current Florida Medical License and is certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and has satisfactorily completed resident training of three (3) years in psychiatry at a recognized institute and has a valid DEA License. Must have satisfactorily completed fellowship training of two (2) years in Adult psychiatry or have five (5) years of experience treating Adults.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination. Ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, kneel. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General office, health care setting. Most work completed while seated at desk using standard office equipment. Multi-tasking requiring above average time management skills. Team approach.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform diagnostic evaluation on patients with mental health disorders, make diagnosis, and prescribe appropriate therapy. Conduct physical examination as required.
- Evaluate patients and comply with all the requirements for the including a full psychiatric evaluation within 24 hours of admission. Perform 1st and 2nd opinions as required by the Backer Act; attend any hearings connected with this, conduct competency evaluations, provide peer review with 3rd party providers. Be on-call for assigned patients and respond in a timely manner when called.
- Completes required documentation for all clinical services provided and maintains up-to-date clinical records. Uses the electronic medical record and electronic prescribing program approved by the agency.
- Coordinates the delivery of clinical treatment services with other clinicians and support services staff. Provides consultations and referrals to other clinical staff, outside providers and other agencies.
- Review and approve all treatment plans; perform peer reviews when requested to do so.
- Continue professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences, and self study necessary to maintain current knowledge applicable to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the medical director.
