Psychiatrist Medical Director

The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County, Inc. is committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed behavioral health and substance use disorder services to diverse communities throughout New York State. We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Medical Director to lead and support our psychiatric services. This leadership role combines clinical oversight, staff mentorship, program development, and regulatory compliance to ensure exceptional care delivery and program growth.

Position Summary

The Medical Director serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary behavioral health leadership team. This position is responsible for clinical supervision of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, oversight of psychiatric program services, staff development, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to trauma-informed and client-centered care.

Qualifications Required

  • Licensed physician in New York State authorized to practice medicine
  • Current DEA registration, NPI, and all required NYS credentials
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • 5+ years experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified), where applicable
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, addiction services, trauma-informed care, and clinical supervision practices
  • Familiarity with NYS behavioral health regulations and compliance standards
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
  • Ability to pass required background screenings and Medicaid exclusion checks

Preferred

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment settings
  • Experience with OMH and/or OASAS licensed programs

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and medical staff
  • Support the development and implementation of psychiatric and behavioral health initiatives aligned with agency strategic goals
  • Develop, review, and maintain medical policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Monitor clinical quality, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in clinical meetings, supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Staff Training & Development

  • Conduct staff education, in-service trainings, and professional development activities
  • Provide guidance related to assessment, treatment planning, admissions, referrals, and discharge planning
  • Assist with overdose prevention training and emergency response preparedness

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with OMH, OASAS, Medicaid, HIPAA, and applicable NYS regulations
  • Participate in chart reviews, corrective action planning, and audit preparation
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and corporate compliance activities

Crisis Response & Community Collaboration

  • Participate as a member of the Crisis Response and Emergency Overdose Prevention Team
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies and referral partners
  • Represent the agency professionally with stakeholders, regulators, and community organizations

Work Environment

This position operates in office and clinic environments and may include telehealth service delivery. Duties may require prolonged sitting, standing, computer work, and occasional movement throughout the facility.

Minimal travel may be required for professional development or agency-related meetings.

Pay: $300,000.00 - $350,000.00 per year
