Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments utilizing clinical research methods.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, behavioral health strategies, and telehealth experience to ensure holistic patient care.
- Manage medication administration, including injections such as botulinum toxin treatment when applicable, and monitor patient responses for efficacy and safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with complex needs such as geriatrics, dementia care, or behavioral health issues.
- Provide patient education on medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and coping skills while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Participate in discharge planning, utilization review, and case management activities to optimize patient outcomes across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Engage in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects related to acute pain management, infectious disease care, or other specialized areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in psychiatry or mental health nursing; experience with psychopharmacology is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; experience with Athenahealth is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (including ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), seniors (geriatrics), individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, specimen collection/processing, and basic life support procedures confidently.
