Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient assessments, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations utilizing clinical research and medical terminology.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, medication administration, and therapy options such as behavioral health interventions.
  • Administer injections such as botulinum toxin treatments and dermal fillers, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care across inpatient, outpatient, hospice & palliative medicine, and senior care settings.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) like Epic or eClinicalWorks efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate medical documentation.
  • Perform specialized procedures including spinal taps, venipuncture, IV infusion, catheterization, and tube feeding assessments when necessary.
  • Participate in telehealth services to expand access to mental health care using telehealth experience best practices.

Qualifications

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing; experience with psychopharmacology is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or nursing home environments.
  • Experience with diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU experience, or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with CPT coding and ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy knowledge, diagnostic evaluation techniques including laboratory experience and medical imaging is essential.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to perform physical examinations and vital signs measurement confidently.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams providing acute pain management, infection control measures, and case management services. Pay: $122,239.75 - $200,000.00 per year
