Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate SPANISH SPEAKING Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using clinical research methods and medical terminology.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, behavioral health strategies, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Administer medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate, ensuring proper injection administration and sterile processing protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and discharge planning for inpatient, outpatient, or assisted living patients.
  • Manage urgent triage situations, perform physical examinations when necessary, and monitor vital signs to ensure patient safety during acute pain management or hospital medicine procedures.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide health coaching and education to patients and families about mental health conditions, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care in clinical or community settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in behavioral health, pain management, or geriatrics with familiarity in hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals.
  • Hands-on experience with telehealth platforms and outpatient clinics utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient documentation.
  • Background in managing complex cases involving substance use disorders or infectious disease care within acute care or ICU settings.
  • Skills in performing procedures such as venipuncture, IV infusion, spinal taps, catheterization, dermal fillers, esthetic laser treatments, or gastrostomy tube feeding are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate medical documentation and utilization review processes.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or PICU work is a plus; familiarity with hospital medicine practices enhances your ability to deliver exceptional psychiatric support across diverse environments.
