Psychological Testing Technician / Office Assistant (Hybrid On-Site Role) — Moline, IL

Job Type: Part-time, W-2, on-site

Hours: Typically 25–35 hours per week depending on office needs, schedule coverage, and demonstrated work performance

Pay: $18.00–$28.00 per hour depending on assigned duties, competency sign-off, accuracy, efficiency, and independence

About the role

Dr. Jackie Jiang & Associates is hiring for a hybrid Psychological Testing Technician / Office Assistant position in a structured, high-accountability psychology practice. This is not a testing-only role. It is a cross-functional support position that includes psychological testing support, front-desk coverage, billing-related administrative work, scheduling support, documentation tasks, and general office operations as assigned.

Candidates must understand that psychological testing duties do not place this role above front-desk or other support responsibilities. All staff in this position are expected to contribute to the daily operational needs of the office. Front-desk, phones, scheduling, documentation, billing-related tasks, and coverage support are required parts of the job.

This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable in a highly structured environment, follows written procedures carefully, respects role boundaries, and understands that no part of office operations is “beneath” them.

Schedule and work setting

This is an on-site position in Moline, Illinois. Weekly hours typically range from 25 to 35 depending on office needs, the employee’s schedule availability, and how accurately and efficiently the employee performs assigned duties. Shifts are scheduled in advance and may include a mix of afternoon, late-afternoon, and evening blocks. Occasional morning training blocks may also be required during onboarding or skill development.

Compensation

Administrative, front-desk, and training duties begin at $18.00 per hour. Testing-related duties may be paid at a higher rate after written competency sign-off by Dr. Jackie Jiang. Higher-rate testing work is based on demonstrated speed, accuracy, professionalism, reliability, independence, and continued satisfactory performance across the full hybrid role. Testing responsibilities may be reduced, restricted, or paused if core front-desk, billing, scheduling, or other office duties are not being performed accurately and efficiently.

What you will do

  • Prepare testing rooms, materials, forms, kits, and documentation
  • Assist with standardized psychological testing procedures as directed and follow scripts, rules, and timing procedures exactly
  • Score protocols, rating scales, and related materials with close attention to detail
  • Complete required documentation, status updates, and workflow tracking accurately and on time
  • Cover front desk as assigned, including phones, scheduling support, check-in/check-out assistance, messages, paperwork flow, and general administrative tasks
  • Complete billing-related support tasks, payment posting support, documentation support, and other assigned office workflows
  • Help maintain a clean, orderly, secure, and efficient office environment
  • Shift between testing, front-desk, and administrative tasks based on daily office needs

Important role expectation

This is a hybrid operations position. Testing duties are one part of the role, not the entire role. Employees in this position are expected to cover front desk and other administrative responsibilities as assigned. Candidates seeking a testing-only position, or candidates who believe front-desk duties are outside the role, are not a fit for this job.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; psychology, education, or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working from manuals, checklists, written procedures, and structured systems
  • Ability to perform both testing-related and administrative/front-desk duties accurately and efficiently
  • Strong professional boundaries, reliability, and follow-through
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Basic computer skills, including fast and accurate data entry
  • Willingness to work as part of a team in a role where duties vary based on office needs
  • Availability that can support a part-time schedule in the 25–35 hour range depending on office needs

Preferred background

Experience in psychological testing support, healthcare administration, medical office work, scheduling, records, billing support, front-desk operations, education, structured clerical work, or other detail-heavy environments is preferred.

Training and advancement

Training is structured and performance-based. Independent testing duties are earned, not assumed. Clearance for higher-level testing work depends on demonstrated mastery of both testing-related responsibilities and core front-desk/administrative responsibilities. Employees who do not perform front-desk or operational duties accurately and efficiently may have testing responsibilities reduced or removed until those responsibilities are fully mastered.

How we evaluate candidates

We use structured interviews, written screening questions, work-sample exercises, and reference checks focused on reliability, accuracy, professionalism, humility, and ability to work effectively in a structured office environment.

How to apply

Apply directly on Indeed. Selected applicants will receive staged screening questions through Indeed. If invited to interview, candidates may also complete structured work-sample exercises relevant to both testing support and front-desk/administrative responsibilities.
