Heimberg Neuropsychology is a growing private neuropsychology practice seeking a Psychological Testing Technician Trainee / Psychological Testing Technician to assist with psychological and neuropsychological assessments.

This role is primarily remote after training, with required in-person training in California and occasional in-person testing as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing careers in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, medicine, or research, and offers meaningful hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of a licensed clinical neuropsychologist.

Position Overview

The Psychological Testing Technician supports the administration and scoring of standardized psychological and neuropsychological tests under supervision. Most testing is conducted remotely via secure platforms; however, technicians must complete required in-person training to meet California requirements and ensure standardized administration.

All testing is conducted under the supervision of a licensed clinical neuropsychologist in accordance with state and professional guidelines.

Responsibilities

- Administer standardized psychological and neuropsychological tests under supervision

- Score and organize test data accurately

- Prepare testing materials and manage testing sessions

- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

- Communicate professionally with patients and staff

- Follow detailed administration protocols and standardized procedures

- Participate in training, supervision, and feedback to ensure accurate and reliable test administration

Schedule

- Part-time / per-diem

- Typically 2 fixed testing day per week, with potential for additional days

- Occasional Saturdays may be available

- Primarily remote after training

- Required in-person training in California

- Occasional in-person testing may be required as needed

Compensation

- $19/hour — Psychological Testing Technician Trainee / entry-level, no prior testing experience

- $21/hour — Psychological Testing Technician after Board registration/approval or demonstrated prior psychological testing experience

- Additional pay increases may be available based on training completion, reliability, scoring accuracy, independence, and demonstrated competence

- Internet stipend provided for remote testing

- Practice-provided iPad and testing materials

Required training time is paid.

Training & Support

- Structured training provided

- Required in-person training in Calabasas, CA

- Supervision by a licensed clinical neuropsychologist

- Technicians work collaboratively alongside experienced testing technicians and may also work with doctoral practicum students as part of a supervised clinical training environment

- Exposure to a wide range of clinical populations and assessment instruments

- Ongoing feedback and support provided as technicians develop competence and independence

Technical & Confidentiality Requirements

- Reliable, high-speed internet connection

- Ability to work from a private, confidential workspace when testing remotely

- No shared spaces, roommates, public environments, or other confidentiality risks during testing

- Comfortable using iPads and secure telehealth/testing platforms

- Strict adherence to HIPAA and professional standards

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures precisely

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree, graduate degree, or current enrollment in a graduate program in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, behavioral science, education with specialization in educational/counseling/school psychology, or a related field meeting California Board of Psychology requirements

- Post-baccalaureate, Master’s, PsyD, PhD, medical, or pre-med students strongly encouraged to apply

- Prior psychological testing, research, clinical, or patient-facing experience is a plus, but not required

- Strong attention to detail and professionalism

- Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently once trained

- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in professional or academic settings

- Interest in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, medicine, assessment, or research
