PT Behavior Specialist

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the BCBA or BCBA-D, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior support plans for individuals with developmental disabilities. They work closely with individuals with IDD, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote positive behavioral changes and enhance the quality of life for the individuals served.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct behavioral assessments to identify the needs and challenges of individuals. Develop and implement individualized behavior support plans (BSPs) based on assessment findings.
  • Implementation: Train and support staff in the implementation of behavior support plans. Provide ongoing supervision and guidance to ensure plans are followed correctly.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the effectiveness of behavior support plans. Collect and analyze data to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals, including therapists, support coordinators, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Training and Support: Provide staff and families with behavior management techniques and strategies, Crisis Management Training (CMT), and positive behavior support (PBS) training. Offer support and resources to enhance their understanding and implementation of BSPs.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage behavioral crises, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and staff. Develop crisis intervention plans as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Registered Behavior Technician credential requirements within time frame set forth by BACB preferred.

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required(ex: Psychology, Education, Counseling, Behavior Analysis)

· 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

· Strong understanding of behavior assessment and intervention techniques.

· Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of children and their families.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients, parents, and the interdisciplinary team.

· Detail-oriented and able to accurately follow treatment plans, collect data, and maintain comprehensive documentation.

· Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each client and implement appropriate strategies to support their progress.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and effectively manage a caseload.

· Openness to learning and receiving feedback, with a growth mindset and a willingness to enhance professional skills.

Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client schedules.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Good interpersonal relationship skills.

· Desire for continued learning opportunities, and willingness to embrace instruction.

· Ability to work with multi-disciplinary team members, and a desire to work with young adults.

· Reliable attendance record.

Essential Physical Functions:

Language Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret written documents.

Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

· Ability to manage and analyze data

Computer Skills:

· Computer proficiency.

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to reason with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
