The Part-time Senior Writing Tutor is responsible for providing academic English tutoring services, assisting students with homework, problem solving, report writing, and test preparation both in person and through the online lab. Senior tutors act as lead tutors and maintain the Writing Lab in the supervisor's absence.Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Tutors students individually or in groups to review grammar, logic, essay structure, and other writing principles; reviews written work; assists students with computer use; assists students with writing and reading concernsAssists the Writing Lab Supervisor with Writing Lab managementProvides input into operating policies and proceduresProvides input on learning materials to facilitate tutoringPerforms other related duties as assignedGeneral Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office setting.
