Organization Overview:

Persad Center provides a diverse range of mental health, behavioral health, substance abuse support, education and family support services to LGBTQA+ individuals, families and people living with HIV/AIDS. Founded in 1972, Persad is the second oldest LGBTQ+ mental health organization of its kind in the U.S.

Scope of Work:

Part time Mon-Wed (under 32 hours) or Full time (40 Hours)

Persad Center is seeking a Service Access Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking services. This role is ideal for candidates with call center, patient access, scheduling, or insurance verification experience who thrive in a fast-paced, high-call-volume environment.

You will play a key role in helping individuals access care by handling inbound calls, verifying insurance, conducting eligibility screenings, and coordinating intake services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls with professionalism and efficiency
  • Conduct initial client screenings and gather accurate demographic and service-related information
  • Perform real-time insurance verification and eligibility checks (Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans)
  • Determine service eligibility and appropriate program placement based on client needs
  • Schedule intake appointments aligned with provider availability
  • Accurately document all interactions in the EHR (Qualifacts/InSync or similar)
  • Ensure all required intake documentation is collected (insurance, ID, etc.)
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication while navigating sensitive situations
  • Collaborate with clinical, billing, and administrative teams to support seamless client access

Required/Strongly Preferred:

  • Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid PA driver’s license, and a driving record that will be supported by Persad’s liability insurance provider.
  • 1–3+ years of call center, patient access, front desk, or intake coordination experience
  • Experience with insurance verification, eligibility checks, or benefits coordination
  • Strong phone presence with the ability to manage high call volumes
  • Excellent multitasking and data entry accuracy
  • Experience working with underserved communities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Appropriate FBI, PA, and Act 33/34 clearances.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services
  • Familiarity with EHR systems (Qualifacts preferred)
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance processes
  • Ability to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Can maintain confidentiality to HIPAA compliant standards.
