Are you passionate about improving community health through dentistry? Cleveland County is seeking a Public Health Dentist to join our dedicated team. This role provides direct dental care and education to children and adults in both clinical and community settings, including schools and a mobile dental unit.
This position may qualify for the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program, offering eligible providers the opportunity to receive student loan forgiveness in exchange for serving in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).
What You'll Do

Perform dental exams, diagnoses, treatment planning, and restorative/palliative care.

Deliver oral health education and preventive services to patients.

Supervise and direct dental assistants and hygienists during procedures.

Collaborate with local healthcare providers and schools to support community dental health.

Participate in quality assurance audits and staff meetings.

Represent the dental program at community events and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

DDS or DMD from an ADA-accredited dental school.

Active North Carolina dental license and DEA registration.

Current CPR certification.

Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Experience in general and pediatric dentistry preferred.

Spanish language skills a plus.

This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department. By General Statue 166A-19.3, Departments of Health and Human Services are agencies that are a part of the State Emergency Response Team for occurrences or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or man-made accidental, military, paramilitary, terrorism, weather-related, public health, explosion-related, riot-related cause, or technological failure or accident, including, but not limited to, a cyber incident, an explosion, a transportation accident, a radiological accident, or a chemical or other hazardous material incident. In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
