The Unique Edge for This Role: We are launching our standalone Accounting & Tax Advisory vertical. We are not a traditional, slow-moving CPA firm, nor are we a risky startup. We have an established, active, and rapidly growing corporate client base and organic lead flow generated directly from our corporate formation and legal divisions. We need a brilliant, hands-on tax practitioner to take immediate ownership of this turnkey book of business and lead the practice from day one.

The Mission

We are not looking for an internal corporate CFO, Fractional Controller, or back-office financial analyst.

We are seeking a practicing, hand-to-keyboard CPA currently in public practice who possesses extreme proficiency in both individual and business tax preparation, complex compliance, and year-round strategic tax planning. You will be the technical anchor and the client-facing advisor for a diverse portfolio of small-to-medium-sized businesses, LLCs, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.

Core Responsibilities (Hands-On Execution)

• High-Volume Tax Preparation & Review: Personally prepare and sign off on a diverse volume of federal, state, and local tax returns, including Forms 1040 (Individual), 1120/1120-S (Corporate), 1065 (Partnership), and multi-state filings.
• Fiduciary & Estate Compliance: Deliver high-level compliance and advisory for trusts, estates, and private foundations (Form 1041 / Form 990).
• Proactive Tax Advisory: Conduct mid-year and year-end tax projections, entity structuring analysis, and tax mitigation strategies for business owners.
• IRS & State Tax Advocacy: Act as the primary representative and advocate for clients facing state or federal tax audits, notice resolutions, and tax controversy matters.
• Practice Leadership & Workflow Design: Establish standardized public practice SOPs, select and optimize the vertical’s tax software tech stack, and eventually hire, train, and supervise staff as the built-in client roster continues to scale.

Required Qualifications & Experience (Strict Spec)

• Active CPA License: Must hold an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing (NJ or NY preferred).
• Current Public Practice Experience: 4 to 8+ years of consecutive, recent experience working within a public accounting firm (regional or mid-tier environment preferred).
• The Tax-Prep Focus: Proven track record of handling high-volume tax seasons with hand-to-keyboard preparation and detailed review of complex corporate, partnership, and individual returns.
• Tech Literacy: Deep familiarity with modern public practice tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, UltraTax, ProSystem FX, Lacerte, or cloud-based document management systems).
• Elite Communication: Exceptional consultative skills; the ability to translate complex multi-jurisdictional tax laws into plain, actionable advice for entrepreneurs.

What this role is NOT:

• This is not a corporate FP&A, treasury, or corporate budget-tracking position.
• This is not a role for someone who has spent the last 3+ years away from active, public firm tax preparation and return signing.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
