Public Relations and Events Coordinator-Gaza Sunbirds

Location: Global-Remote with overlap in UK time zone

We are a dynamic and passionate paracycling team dedicated to achieving excellence in competitive sports. Our team comprises talented athletes and humanitarians in Gaza who inspire and motivate us every day.

Responsibilities:

Public Relations and Media Coordination

• Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies that elevate brand awareness and foster positive media coverage.
• Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials.
• Managing and coordinating press engagement, including interviews, features and media opportunities; acting as a point of contact between The Sunbirds and media representatives;
• Supporting the preparation of athletes and representatives for media appearances.
• Proofread all outgoing materials for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to branding standards while maintaining high standards of journalism ethics.

Events and Fundraising Support

• Coordinating and supporting the delivery of fundraising and community events;
• Assisting with event planning and execution; managing event-related communications; and liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.

Community Liaison and Engagement

• Acting as a point of contact for community-led initiatives and external collaborators involved in events
• Supporting coordination between The Sunbirds and community partners
• Ensuring alignment with The Sunbirds’ objectives and standards.

Internal Coordination and Reporting

• Maintaining regular communication with The Sunbirds
• Providing updates on activities and opportunities
• Preparing briefing materials and follow-ups as reasonably required.

Qualifications:

• Palestine Knowledge and Support - Lets be clear it isn't enough to "support Palestine". You are joining what is currently one of the largest Palestinian news, cultural and sports networks operating internationally. You need to demonstrate strong understanding of cultural contexts.
• Passion for sports, particularly cycling, and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in athletics.
• Proven experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or related fields with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns or projects.
• Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for detail; proficiency in AP style is highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal communication skills suitable for public speaking engagements and media interviews.
• Strong research abilities to gather relevant information quickly and accurately.
• Experience managing media relations and securing press coverage across diverse channels.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports management, or a related field (preferred)
• Proven experience in public relations, events, partnerships or similar role, preferably in the sports or non-profit sector (preferred).
• Knowledge of Arabic a plus but not required
