This is a unique opportunity for stable, long-term work with Glacier National Park. This position is currently only open to permanent residents who live within an 80-mile commuting radius of Glacier National Park, MT. The position is a permanent, career-seasonal position - with up to 4 months off in the winter. Starting salary for this career-ladder position is dependent on experience (approximately $21-$31 per hour).
Responsibilities
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls, accurately assessing situations through phone triage and providing appropriate guidance or dispatch instructions.
- Utilize GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to determine precise locations for emergency response units.
- Dispatch law enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), fire services, or security personnel efficiently based on priority and location data.
- Maintain detailed records of all communications through data entry, transcription, and incident logging with high accuracy.
- Coordinate with first responders by providing critical information such as medical terminology, incident details, and scene descriptions.
- Manage conflict situations with professionalism while applying negotiation and conflict management skills to de-escalate tense interactions.
Qualifications
- Prior EMT experience or background in emergency medical services is highly desirable.
- Strong analysis skills to evaluate incoming information quickly and accurately.
- Familiarity with law enforcement procedures, security protocols, and first aid principles.
- Experience using GIS systems, GPS technology, and multi-line phone systems in a dispatch environment.
- Excellent typing speed combined with strong attention to detail for data entry and transcription tasks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to emergency response scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations with calmness and professionalism.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively across diverse audiences.
