Duties
This position staffs the Colonial National Historical Park Communication Center. Provides support to the visitor and resource protection function, including law enforcement, emergency medical services programs, search and rescue programs, fire operations and other public safety programs. Coordinates a major relay network involving flow of information across various platforms (CPI OpenFox, Computer-aided dispatch, e-mail systems, fax, telephones, computers, radios, etc.) into the Communication Center and arranges the appropriate dissemination of same to concerned park personnel, other NPS units, and to other cooperating agencies. Processes a large volume of incoming telephone calls, supports law enforcement telecommunications system interface with local, state, national networks (VCIN, NCIC, IMARS). Monitors and coordinates multiple park units radio traffic on a multi-frequency radio network. Dispatches personnel and equipment via radio communications to law enforcement, emergency medical and other emergency incidents. Monitors computer-based alarm systems and ensures proper response in event of alarm activation. Organizes, complies and maintains a variety of record systems. Provides dispatch support to NPS units and other agencies.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
