PUBLIC WORKS ASSISTANT

Public Works – City of Tekoa

This position is partially composed of a water/sewer system operator position and will require Sewer I certification within a year and Sewer II and Water I certification within two years.

Work requires employees to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgement in the performance and completion of tasks.

This individual is responsible for road maintenance and the operation of road maintenance equipment and manual labor. Work requires the skilled operation of a road grader, roller, snowplow and a variety of small equipment and the repair of said equipment. Work may be performed in the city shop, wastewater treatment plant, in the cab of a vehicle or outdoors in all weather conditions.

Starting Salary: $22/hr, negotiable DOE. Full Salary Range: $22-$30/hr. Open until filled.

Preferred minimum qualifications: High School Diploma, two (2) years of equipment and/or truck operation/maintenance experience, OR any experience, education, or training which would demonstrate the level of knowledge and ability required, CDL preferred. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. FULL TIME BENEFITS include $625 per month toward medical, dental, vision insurance. Life insurance and LTD insurance provided by the city, as well as the PERS 2/3 plan with WA Department of Retirement Systems. Health Savings Accounts are available voluntarily. Eleven holidays annually. Vacation accrual for the first year starts at 3.34 hours/month and sick leave accrues at 8 hours/month.
