Public Works Laborer (Sanitation Worker)

DPW Laborer:

The City of Grosse Pointe Farms is looking for a hardworking and conscientious person for full-time/benefits employment with the Department of Public Works. This is a general laborer field position involving all aspects of:

• Rubbish collection (City collects own trash)
• Municipal maintenance
• Road work
• Plowing
• City beautification
• Equipment operation

Preferred Experience:
Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, automotive and/or small engine repair.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• CDL-Class B
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug test and criminal background check.

• 8 hour shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
• Monday to Friday
• 12 Paid Holidays
• Night shift during snow plowing season and emergencies (Required)
• On call (Required on occasion)
• Overtime (Required on occasion)
• Weekend availability (Required on occasion)

Required Education:
High school diploma or GED.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Commercial Driver’s License CDL Class B
• Current Valid Michigan Driver's License (Required)
