Public Works Maintenance Worker 1 & 2

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, parks, and facilities.
• Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as welders, ohmmeters, schematics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Conduct electrical work including wiring, schematics interpretation, and electrical system troubleshooting with safety as a priority.
• Assist with facilities maintenance tasks such as painting residential buildings, plumbing repairs, HVAC servicing, and general custodial duties.
• Support manufacturing or construction-related activities by welding or fabricating parts as needed for infrastructure projects.
• Supervise or assist less experienced team members in maintenance tasks while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance history, and schedule preventive maintenance activities.
• Respond promptly to service requests from residents or internal departments, providing excellent customer service with clear communication.

Requirements

• Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in facilities maintenance or related fields; familiarity with schematics and technical drawings is highly desirable.
• Basic electrical experience including wiring, troubleshooting with ohmmeters, and understanding electrical schematics.
• Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), welding techniques, and residential painting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration.
• Supervising or leadership experience is a plus; willingness to learn new skills on the job is essential.
• Knowledge of CMMS software for maintenance tracking is advantageous.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy objects, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and standing for extended periods. Pay: $15.55 - $23.58 per hour
