Overview
Join our dynamic Public Works team as a Maintenance Worker at the entry or advanced level, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing public infrastructure and facilities. Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, parks, and facilities.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as welders, ohmmeters, schematics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Conduct electrical work including wiring, schematics interpretation, and electrical system troubleshooting with safety as a priority.
- Assist with facilities maintenance tasks such as painting residential buildings, plumbing repairs, HVAC servicing, and general custodial duties.
- Support manufacturing or construction-related activities by welding or fabricating parts as needed for infrastructure projects.
- Supervise or assist less experienced team members in maintenance tasks while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance history, and schedule preventive maintenance activities.
- Respond promptly to service requests from residents or internal departments, providing excellent customer service with clear communication.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in facilities maintenance or related fields; familiarity with schematics and technical drawings is highly desirable.
- Basic electrical experience including wiring, troubleshooting with ohmmeters, and understanding electrical schematics.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), welding techniques, and residential painting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration.
- Supervising or leadership experience is a plus; willingness to learn new skills on the job is essential.
- Knowledge of CMMS software for maintenance tracking is advantageous.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy objects, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and standing for extended periods.
