Publisher, HRinsidr (Contract-to-Hire)

HRinsidr is an established HR media property reaching practitioners, decision-makers, and certified HR

professionals. We’re hiring a Publisher to own the property end-to-end: P&L, audience, content, and monetization.

This is a contract-to-hire role: 90-day retainer trial with a clear path to full-time conversion.

What you’ll own

  • The HRinsidr P&L — revenue, costs, growth, decisions
  • The newsletter — strategy, editorial direction, cadence, voice
  • The website — content, SEO, conversion, ongoing optimization (working with our web developer for technical builds)
  • Audience growth across owned and paid channels, including the existing webinar program
  • Social presence and community
  • Sourcing, hiring, and managing freelance writers and contributors
  • Sponsorship monetization — pricing, packaging, pipeline
  • Partnership evaluation and decisions
  • Weekly reporting and analytics across the property
  • Cross-functional coordination with our sister Matchr and ClevrHR teams
  • Day-to-day management of a freelance writer bench, contract specialists, the design and email automation agency, and a growth account executive supporting ad sales

You report directly to the CEO. Short feedback loops, fast decisions, high autonomy.

How you’ll execute

You won’t do all of this yourself. You’ll direct a team of contractors, freelancers, and agency partners — including a design and email automation agency, a webinar program lead, a writer bench, and a growth account executive on ad sales. Your job is to set direction, manage execution, and own outcomes.

The 6-month bar

Priority is audience growth. Direct revenue is secondary in year one.

Built into the offer:

  • Significant lift in engaged subscriber base
  • Scaled webinar cadence
  • Newsletter-attributed lead volume trending up
  • First net new sponsorships beyond anchor clients

Specific targets shared in interview. Hit them and the FT role is yours.

Who we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in B2B newsletter or media operations
  • Track record of personally closing sponsorship deals — not just managing sellers
  • Comfortable with email marketing economics: CAC, list hygiene, deliverability, cadence testing
  • Strong writer and editor, even if writing isn’t your day job
  • Comfortable owning a website, not just an inbox
  • Operator mindset, not thought-leader mindset

Bonus points:

  • HR vertical experience
  • Direct experience with WordPress and HubSpot
  • Experience growing a property through a tech stack migration
  • Experience with content syndication or paid newsletter growth channels

This role is not for:

  • Editors who want to write more than grow a business
  • Thought leaders building a personal brand
  • Consultants who want to advise but not operate
  • Anyone who needs lots of management

Logistics

  • Schedule: Roughly full-time equivalent. Eastern Time overlap of 9am–2pm minimum.
  • Location: Remote. US or LATAM with native or near-native English writing ability.
  • Reports to: CEO.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
