Job Title: Purchase Executive

Job Summary

The Purchase Executive is responsible for managing the procurement process, from supplier identification to contract management, ensuring cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining quality standards and supporting business operations. They play a crucial role in optimizing supply chain efficiency and contributing to organizational profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best value for goods and services
  • Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance metrics
  • Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement requirements and specifications
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while managing contracts and agreements
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to optimize stock management
  • Analyze spending patterns and implement cost reduction initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
  • Understanding of contract law, negotiation techniques, and vendor management
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and compliance requirements

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for supplier interactions
  • Ability to present procurement strategies and recommendations to management
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with internal stakeholders

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking for supplier evaluation and cost analysis
  • Ability to identify and resolve supply chain issues and bottlenecks
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities for procurement optimization
  • Critical thinking skills for risk assessment and mitigation

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Professional certifications such as CPIM, CPSM, or APICS (preferred)
  • Additional qualifications in procurement, logistics, or operations management

Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
  • Experience with supplier negotiations, contract management, and vendor relations
  • Background in relevant industry sectors (manufacturing, retail, healthcare, etc.)
