Key responsibilities
- Supplier management: Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with suppliers for technical components and materials.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
- Procurement: Manage the purchase order process and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
- Coordination: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements and avoid delays.
- Inventory control: Monitor stock levels and coordinate with teams to forecast future needs.
- Performance monitoring: Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost analysis, and market trends.
Required qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field; a diploma is also sometimes acceptable.
- Experience: Previous experience in a procurement role, preferably within the manufacturing, mechanical, or engineering industry.
- Technical knowledge: Ability to understand technical requirements, read engineering documents, and knowledge of manufacturing processes is often preferred.
- Software proficiency: Experience with ERP systems or other procurement software is often required.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
