Purchase Manager

Position: Purchase Manager – Electrical Control Panel Manufacturing IndustryRole Summary

Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality electrical components, sheet metal materials, fabrication services, and allied items required for manufacturing electrical control panels while ensuring cost efficiency, timely delivery, and vendor reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage vendor network for electrical components, switchgear, cables, enclosures, and fabrication parts.
• Raise purchase requisitions, RFQs, and finalize orders based on quality, cost, and lead time.
• Maintain minimum inventory levels through planning & coordination with production and stores.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, approved makes, and industry standards.
• Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Track and monitor material delivery status to avoid production delays.
• Work closely with design, engineering, production, and accounts teams.
• Prepare and maintain purchase records, price comparison sheets, and supplier performance data.
• Identify new vendors and cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality.
• Handle logistics, transport coordination, material inspection follow-ups, and documentation.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of electrical components (MCB/MCCB, ACB, relays, contactors, PLC, VFD, CT/PT, terminal blocks, wiring accessories, Lugs, Ferrules, etc.)
• Understanding of control panel manufacturing process
• Vendor development & negotiation skills
• Knowledge of taxation, pricing, and commercial terms (GST, Freight, Inco terms)
• ERP / MS Excel proficiency
• Time, cost & quality management mindset

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
• 3–10 years experience in Control Panel Manufacturing / Switchgear / Automation industry
