Job Purpose
The Purchase Manager – Crushing & Mining is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, machinery, spares, consumables, and services required for mining and crushing operations. The role ensures uninterrupted plant operations, cost optimization, quality compliance, and vendor reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Manage end-to-end procurement for mining and crushing operations, including:
- Heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, dumpers, crushers, screens)
- Spares and wear parts (jaw plates, liners, conveyor belts, rollers)
- Diesel, lubricants, oils, explosives (where applicable)
- Consumables and maintenance items
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and OEM suppliers.
- Float RFQs, compare quotations, and finalize vendors based on cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
2. Vendor Management & Negotiation
- Negotiate best commercial terms, payment conditions, warranties, and AMC contracts.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply.
- Monitor vendor performance and resolve quality, delivery, or service issues.
3. Inventory & Cost Control
- Coordinate with site and stores teams to maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Avoid overstocking and stock-outs of critical spares.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and value engineering without compromising quality.
- Ensure adherence to approved budgets and cost controls.
4. Coordination with Operations & Maintenance
- Work closely with Mining, Crushing Plant, Mechanical, and Maintenance teams to understand material and spare requirements.
- Plan purchases as per preventive maintenance schedules and breakdown needs.
- Ensure timely availability of spares to minimize plant downtime.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation: POs, GRNs, invoices, contracts, and vendor records.
- Support audits and management reviews with accurate procurement data.
6. Logistics & Delivery Management
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for timely delivery to mining and plant sites.
- Track dispatches and follow up to meet critical operational timelines.
- Ensure proper material receipt and quality verification at site.
7. Reporting & MIS
- Prepare and submit purchase MIS, cost analysis, and vendor performance reports.
- Provide monthly and quarterly procurement summaries to management.
- Track savings achieved through negotiations and strategic sourcing.

Qualification & Experience
- Education: BE / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferred) OR Graduate with relevant experience
- Experience:
- 8–15 years in procurement for mining, crushing, quarry, cement, or infrastructure industry
- Proven experience in handling high-value purchases and site procurement
