Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and design-focused Purchase Head to lead procurement of exclusive handcrafted products across India, with a strong focus on:

• Brass & Bronze artefacts
• Wrought Iron / Metal sculptures
• Solid wood & handcrafted furniture
• Traditional & contemporary handicrafts
• Temple / spiritual décor items
• Art-based lifestyle products

The candidate will develop, head and scale the entire Handicrafts Purchase Department, ensuring best-price sourcing, superior quality, exclusive designs, and strong vendor relationships. Prior exposure to silver jewellery procurement will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Pan-India Sourcing
• Identify, develop and manage suppliers & master artisans across India:
• Moradabad, Jaipur, Bastar, Dhokra clusters, Mahabalipuram, Karaikudi, Channapatna, etc.
• Source unique / exclusive / heritage-based designs
• Develop regional artisan portfolios
• Vendor Development & Negotiation
• Maintain strong relationships with qualified suppliers / craftsmen
• Negotiate best prices without compromising on craftsmanship
• Ensure supply continuity & priority access
• Design & Trend Research
• Track new design trends in handicrafts, temple décor, lifestyle & luxury segments
• Suggest new collections regularly for:
• Retail showroom
• Online platforms
• Custom projects
• Quality Control
• Ensure product adherence to required weight, metal purity, polish & finish standards
• Evaluate durability, artistic integrity, uniqueness and packaging
• Costing & Margin Control
• Work closely with Accounts & Sales to ensure required ROI
• Optimize cost vs design value
• Team Leadership
• Build, develop and lead a dedicated purchase + QC + logistics team
• Create SOPs for sourcing, approvals, and vendor rating
• Silver Jewellery Support (Desirable)
• Purchase & evaluate designer silver articles for select categories
• Support coordination with main jewellery team for cross-products
• Market Research & Field Visits
• Regular travel across India for exhibitions, clusters & direct sourcing
• Attend handicraft fairs, trade expos & artisan meets

Required Skills & Qualification

✅ Minimum 5 years experience as:

• Purchase Manager / Senior Buyer in a Brass/Bronze / Handicrafts / Metalware company

✅ Deep knowledge of:

• Brass & bronze alloy products
• Wrought iron & cast metal designs
• Handcrafted furniture & artifacts
• Vendor ecosystems in India

✅ Strong in:

• Negotiation
• Vendor development
• Cost analysis
• Design sensibility
• Quality checking
• Logistics planning

✅ Good communication in:

• English & one regional language

(Hindi / Tamil / Kannada / Telugu preferred)

✅ Willingness for extensive travel

✅ Bachelor’s degree / equivalent professional experience preferred
