Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Purchase Manager to oversee the end-to-end procurement of all raw materials and components critical to our operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in metal procurement, with a proven track record of sourcing from top-tier mills and suppliers. You will be responsible for ensuring a resilient, cost-effective, and high-quality supply chain for Galvalume, GI, fasteners, and structural steel products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for all required materials: Galvalume (GL), Galvanized Iron (GI), MS (Mild Steel), SS (Stainless Steel), Hot Rolled Coils, Purlin, Rafter, and Solar Structure components.
- Source, evaluate, negotiate with, and onboard new vendors, including major metal mills and roll-forming manufacturers.
- Establish and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key suppliers (e.g., top metal industry companies like Tata Steel, JSW, ArcelorMittal, POSCO, etc., or their authorized distributors).
- Manage vendor performance through regular reviews, ensuring adherence to quality, delivery, and commercial terms.
- Procurement Operations:
- Process requisitions and generate purchase orders for all direct materials.
- Manage the entire procurement cycle, from floating inquiries and analyzing quotes to order placement and timely follow-up.
- Procure materials for specific processes like hot-dip galvanizing and roll-forming, coordinating with service providers.
- Ensure all procured materials meet stringent quality standards and technical specifications.
- Cost & Contract Management:
- Lead price negotiations to achieve the best possible total cost of ownership (TCO), including raw material costs, logistics, and payment terms.
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing (e.g., LME, SHFE), and geopolitical factors to make informed buying decisions and mitigate price volatility risks.
- Draft, review, and manage long-term supply agreements and contracts.
- Supply Chain Coordination & Logistics:
- Collaborate closely with the planning, production, and project teams to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules and production plans.
- Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective inbound transportation of materials.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Work with the QA/QC team to validate material test certificates (MTCs) and ensure incoming materials comply with required standards (e.g., ASTM, IS, BS).
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Production), Supply Chain Management, or a related field. An MBA in Supply Chain/Operations is a plus.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in procurement, specifically within the steel/metal industry.
- Proven, hands-on experience in procuring the exact materials: GI, Galvalume, HR Coils, CR Coils, MS Plates, Structural Steel (Sections, Purlins, Rafters), Fasteners, and Solar Structure components.
- Established network and strong working relationships with major metal producers, rolling mills, and service centers (e.g., HDG lines, roll-forming plants).
- Demonstrated experience in vendor development and strategic sourcing.

- Expert Negotiator: Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive cost savings.
- Market Analyst: In-depth knowledge of global and domestic metal markets and pricing mechanisms.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand technical specifications, material grades, and quality standards.
- Supplier Relationship Manager: Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong vendor partnerships.
- Problem-Solver: Ability to anticipate supply issues and develop effective contingency plans.
- Proficient in ERP/SAP systems and advanced MS Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
