Purchase Parts Buyer

Job Summary:

Responsible for ordering, arranging transportation and managing inventory of purchase parts to be used in production for Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Ohio. Responsible for communication with suppliers, transportation companies, plant production team members and plant management. Responsible for providing suppliers with weekly, bi-weekly and monthly demand in addition to five-month forecast. Will use Topre systems (Base Plan, Account-mate and EDI). Responsible for managing appropriate inventory levels based on Days on Hand targets, customer demand and commodity expiration dates.

Shift:

• Position is 1st shift – start time is 7:30 AM (Must be flexible to schedule changes)

Monthly Phone allowance is provided with this position, after hour calls are to be expected, laptop and VPN access is also provided so that after hours work is as efficient as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

• Use Topre’s Base Plan system to pull in supplier demand after scheduling has released new weekly production schedule.
• Responsible for setting appropriate lead times in Base Plan based on minimum inventory levels appropriate, SNP and supplier lead time.
• Responsible for arranging weekly, bi weekly and monthly releases based on current production schedules and current physical inventory.
• Responsible for arranging and securing trucks for purchase parts that require milk run transportation and communicating that to the purchase part receiving team as well as the transportation company.
• Responsible for confirming orders are received on time and backorders are communicated daily to the supplier.
• Responsible for working with Quality department on any supplier quality issues, processing returns and supplier debits as needed.
• Responsible for working with Quality and Engineering to secure TF (Tooling Order Forms) as needed for new supplier kick off events.
• Responsible for processing TF’s for incremental payment based on TF terms and conditions.
• Responsible for maintaining correct pricing in the PO PRICE LIST and ensuring that any accounting issues are resolved quickly so that suppliers are paid according to terms.
• Reconcile received goods and backorders in Account-mate.
• Calculate five-month forecast for suppliers based on Topre’s internal forecast provided.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to secure trial parts for new model launch.
• Work with Program Management to ensure that milestones for new model launch are met.
• Ensure suppliers submit PPAP’s for new model launch according to program launch schedule.
• Responsible for creating IMDS submissions per customer request.
• Responsible for Conflict Minerals Reporting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Proficient in the use of a computer.
• Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
• V Lookup, Macros, Pivot Tables experience preferred but not required
• Detail oriented.
• Organizational skills required.
• Good communication skills.
• Shipping or receiving experience preferred but not required.
• Self-Motivated TEAM Player
• MRP Experience preferred by not required.

Education and/or Experience:

High school education or a GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
