To manage end-to-end procurement of general materials, plant spares, consumables, and services required for uninterrupted operation of the ethanol manufacturing plant, ensuring cost optimization, quality compliance, timely delivery, and adherence to statutory and company procurement policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Operations
- Handle procurement of general materials, plant spares, consumables, and services, including:
- Mechanical, electrical & instrumentation spares
- Pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, bearings
- Utility spares (boilers, cooling towers, compressors)
- Chemicals, lubricants, oils, packing materials
- Civil, fabrication, maintenance & AMC services
- Process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and convert them into Purchase Orders (POs) as per urgency and priority.
- Ensure on-time availability of critical spares to avoid plant downtime.
2. Vendor Management & Development
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and onboard reliable vendors for materials and services.
- Negotiate prices, delivery terms, payment terms, warranties, and service agreements.
- Maintain and periodically review approved vendor lists.
- Conduct vendor performance evaluation based on quality, delivery, service, and cost.
3. Cost Control & Negotiation
- Achieve cost reduction and savings through:
- Strategic sourcing
- Alternate vendor development
- Bulk negotiations and long-term rate contracts
- Benchmark prices and ensure procurement at competitive market rates.
- Support budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
4. Services Procurement
- Handle procurement of maintenance services, including:
- Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs)
- Shutdown & breakdown maintenance services
- Equipment erection & commissioning services
- Civil, electrical, instrumentation & mechanical works
- Ensure proper scope definition, work orders, service completion certificates, and bill verification.
5. Inventory & Stores Coordination
- Coordinate with stores and maintenance departments for:
- Minimum stock levels
- Re-order points
- Slow-moving & non-moving inventory identification
- Support inventory optimization and reduction of obsolete items.
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation:
- Purchase Orders
- Service Orders / Work Orders
- GRNs, invoices, delivery challans
- Ensure compliance with:
- Company procurement policies
- GST and statutory requirements
- Audit and internal control procedures
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Production & Maintenance teams
- Finance & Accounts
- Stores & Logistics
- Quality & Safety departments
- Support plant shutdown planning and emergency procurement.
8. Reporting & MIS
- Prepare and submit:
- Monthly purchase reports
- Cost-saving reports
- Vendor performance reports
- Pending PR/PO status reports
Key Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of ethanol plant equipment, spares, and utilities
- Understanding of distillery processes and maintenance requirements
- Knowledge of GST, commercial terms, Incoterms
- ERP experience (SAP / Oracle / Tally / other ERP systems)

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation) or
- Additional certification in Supply Chain / Materials Management preferred
Experience
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in procurement
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Ethanol / Distillery / Sugar / Chemical / Process industry preferred
