Overview
Join RuMar Mfg Corp's team in our Purchasing department. This position includes acquiring products, materials, and services necessary for RuMar's operations. Ensures that purchases meet quality standards, are cost-effective, and are delivered on time, while adhering to company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Purchases production and non-production materials.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices on computer system
- Quotes materials and assists Estimating Dept with current costs, vendor information and potential freight costs. Updates price list for Estimating Dept.
- Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications
- Compares prices, specifications and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers.
- Seeks new and develops current vendor relations and works with vendors on problems.
- Solves quality problems and works with appropriate depts. regarding rejected material
- Searches inventory records to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity
- Completes pre-purchasing searches for materials that are needed due to complexity of a job or short lead time
- Purchases outside services and maintains schedules, working with production for completion date
- Expedites vendors for potential deliveries
Experience and Qualifications
- 1-3 years sheet metal experience
- Computer literacy and accuracy, Syteline ERP experience preferred
- Detail oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Communication skills to deal with vendors as well as in-house departments
- Understands cost effectiveness
- Organizational skills
- Ability to read basic blueprints
