Purchasing Agent

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and products are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of supply chain management. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with suppliers to meet the organization's purchasing needs.

Purchasing Agent essential duties:

• Evaluate suppliers existing and new suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, application and other criteria;
• Negotiate contracts with vendors (existing and new);
• Issue purchase orders based on needs of all departments;
• Verify accuracy of delivery of material against purchasing orders and packing lists;
• Interact with suppliers to resolve issues;
• Maintain accurate levels of inventory on all parts;
• Conduct cost analysis and possibly seek more cost-effective options;
• Coordinate with accounts payable to ensure timely payment of invoices;
• Prepare a quarterly inventory for all parts and for all departments.

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in purchasing with duties and responsibilities similar to the ones listed
• 2+ years working in a manufacturing environment preferred;
• Understanding of manufacturing planning and purchasing
• Effective analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent Excel skills
• Self-starter
• College degree in Business or Mathematics/statistics required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
