Purchasing Agent

Responsibilities

1. Sourcing and Supplier Management:

o Develop and maintain relationships with almond growers, processors, and packers.

o Locate, identify and track in Hub-Spot where business opportunities are for growers of raw almonds, hullers and shellers for hash and packers for by-products.

o Negotiate contracts to secure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery terms.

2. Procurement Strategy and Planning:

o Create and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s production and financial goals.

o Forecast procurement needs based on sales projections, seasonal harvests, and production schedules.

o Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and sustainability initiatives.

3. Inventory and Supply Chain Coordination:

o Manage inventory levels to ensure timely and consistent supply while minimizing excess supply.

o Provide weekly updates to VP of Sales on all procurement activities.

o Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient transportation and storage.

o Optimize procurement processes to reduce lead times and streamline supply chain activities.

4. Quality

o Ensure that all procured almonds meet company quality standards.

o Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor supplier performance and resolve quality issues.

What Will You Need

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of the almond supply chain, from farming to processing and distribution.

• Expertise in negotiation, supplier management, and contract administration.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

• 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably within the almond, agriculture, or food processing industries.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

• Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment for prolonged periods.

• Frequent communication (verbal and written) with internal teams and external partners is required.

Work Environment

• Primarily office-based with regular visits to almond growers and processing facilities, and suppliers.

• May require occasional travel to supplier sites, industry events, and conferences.

Purchasing Agent

The Procurement Agent is responsible for overseeing the procurement of almonds, hash and by-products necessary for processing and distribution. This role ensures a reliable supply chain, maintains cost efficiency, and upholds quality standards critical to the company’s operations. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with farmers, hullers and shellers and packers to drive procurement strategies that support business growth and sustainability.
