Purchasing Agent Danser, Inc. – Parkersburg, WV
Real Work. Big Impact. Build What Lasts.
At Danser, we’re more than metal fabricators—we’re problem-solvers, craftsmen, and partners who deliver high-quality custom steel, sheet metal, piping, and industrial solutions across the country. For over 80 years, we’ve earned a reputation for safety-first execution, on-time/on-budget performance, and getting the details right every single time. From pollution control ductwork to complex fabrication and plant maintenance, our success depends on smart, reliable sourcing that keeps projects moving and margins strong.
We’re looking for a Purchasing Agent with an almost obsessive devotion to details and a relentless finisher mindset. If you thrive on mastering metals, negotiating sharp deals, managing multiple vendors, and ensuring every order is accurate, on-time, and cost-effective, this is your opportunity to make a direct impact on our shop floor and bottom line.
What You’ll Do
- Source and procure various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless, and specialty alloys), sheet, plate, structural shapes, consumables, and fabrication supplies with deep knowledge of material grades, specifications, and applications.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts with vendors to secure the best total value while maintaining quality and reliability.
- Manage a portfolio of vendors—evaluating performance, building strong relationships, and diversifying sources to reduce risk and control costs.
- Oversee the full procurement cycle: review requisitions, issue accurate purchase orders, track deliveries, resolve discrepancies, and reconcile invoices with obsessive follow-through.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels, monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and material availability, and proactively communicate impacts to leadership and production teams.
- Collaborate closely with estimating, project management, fabrication, and welding teams to ensure materials meet all project specifications and industry standards. Ability to understand specifications as they relate to material procurement, such as welding procedure requirements, preferred
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, bulk purchasing strategies, and process improvements that strengthen our competitiveness.
- Champion accuracy and organization in all records, vendor databases, and procurement documentation.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment (direct metals procurement experience strongly preferred).
- Solid technical understanding of various metals, their properties, specifications, and applications in sheet metal fabrication and industrial work.
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple vendors effectively while building productive, long-term relationships.
- An almost obsessive attention to detail and a true “finisher” mentality — you don’t leave loose ends and you follow every order through to completion.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems, Excel (formulas, tracking, and reporting), and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- A hands-on, team-first attitude and genuine pride in supporting high-quality American manufacturing.
