Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Agent - Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services essential to our operations. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes, with proficiency in various ERP systems such as Global Shop, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and SAP. The Purchasing Agent will play a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of quality goods while maintaining cost efficiency and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials and services.
- Utilize ERP systems such as Global Shop, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and SAP to track inventory levels, process purchase orders, and manage supplier data.
- Coordinate with supply chain management teams to optimize inventory levels and ensure seamless production planning.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities based on quality, cost, delivery time, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply chain efficiency.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate shipping schedules and delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Support inventory management efforts through effective inventory control practices and forecasting using MRP systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends related to materials management, sourcing strategies, e-commerce platforms, and supply chain innovations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles within manufacturing or supply chain environments.
- Strong familiarity with ERP systems such as Global Shop, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, SAP (SAP ERP), and other materials management tools.
- Knowledge of procurement processes including sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and inventory control.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to establish mutually beneficial supplier agreements.
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles including logistics, production planning, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data related to inventory levels and demand forecasting.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and negotiating with suppliers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
