Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors – Albany, NY About the Role
Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors is seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and personable Purchasing and Central Supply Coordinator to join our team full-time. In this vital role, you will ensure our facility remains fully equipped to provide high-quality care by managing the end-to-end lifecycle of our supplies—from strategic sourcing and vendor management to internal distribution. We are looking for a leader who can balance cost-effectiveness with quality, ensuring our staff has exactly what they need to serve our residents effectively.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead & Mentor: Supervise the Central Supply Clerk, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Inventory Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of Central Supply, maintaining optimal inventory levels (par levels) and ensuring all storage areas are safe and organized.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Research and select the best sources for supplies and equipment using current contracts; analyze product specs alongside department heads to ensure quality.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor product costs, make recommendations for savings, assign general ledger numbers to purchases, and coordinate with Accounts Payable.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee shipping and receiving to verify order accuracy.
  • Hands-on Support: Step in during the Central Supply Clerk’s absence to stock oxygen rooms, fill requisitions, and maintain supply areas.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of purchasing policies, warehouse management, and inventory control procedures.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, a collaborative team spirit, and a high level of sensitivity toward the needs of older adults.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted (and over 50 lbs. with assistance); ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, and pull regularly.
