Wonderland Tire is a successful, multi-location, family-owned-and-operated company that has been serving customers since 1978. We are growing and seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager to lead the purchasing and inventory functions for our 15 retail/commercial locations and 5 retread plants. This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to make a significant impact on profitability and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Do
The Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager plans, organizes, and directs all purchasing and inventory activities while collaborating closely with store managers and operations team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Purchasing Leadership: Oversee daily replenishment orders, manage purchasing agents, and handle special purchases such as equipment, vehicles, or supplies. Stay current on new product offerings and manage the company’s product master list.
- Supplier Management: Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, monitor supplier programs and performance, and ensure timely communication on backorders, shortages, or pricing updates.
- Pricing & Margin Control: Oversee supplier price list updates, review customer and contract pricing, monitor product margins, and develop strategies to improve profitability.
- Inventory Optimization: Track inventory health, implement stocking level changes, identify slow-moving or aging products, and coordinate returns, transfers, or discounts to reduce carrying costs and maintain product availability.
- Reporting & KPIs: Establish and monitor inventory key performance indicators (KPIs), provide monthly reports to leadership, and recommend action items to improve results across locations.
- Process Improvement: Audit stores, develop procedures for better inventory management, and ensure accurate and efficient inventory counts and controls.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of purchasing and inventory management experience preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-department collaboration and supplier negotiations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- A proactive, data-driven approach to decision-making and continuous improvement
