Position Summary

The Purchasing position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, finished goods, and services that support production operations along with quality inspections for all inbound goods. This role ensures that materials are available on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards to keep manufacturing running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and reliability.
  • Issue purchase orders and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information in the ERP/MRP system.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and the sales team to forecast and plan material needs.
  • Work with Receiving to perform quality inspections on all inbound raw materials and finished goods.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review inventory levels regularly to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships and performance metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Monitor reorder points for all purchased items and update accordingly.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of purchasing or related experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of materials, components, and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
