Purchasing Associate <Job Title>

Hilliard, OH

Mayco Colors is seeking to hire a full-time Purchasing Associate to join the team at our Hilliard, Ohio, facility. The Purchasing Associate is responsible for coordinating the procurement of materials and supplies used in operations to ensure timely delivery to meet production schedules. This role bridges purchasing and production planning, optimizing inventory levels and supplier performance to support efficient manufacturing and shipping operations

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Develop and manage procurement schedules aligned with production schedule and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate with production scheduler to forecast material requirements.
  • Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, and warehouse supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock to avoid shortages or overstock.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery schedules.

Vendor Relations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Assist with negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery timelines to ensure on-time and in-full (OTIF) compliance.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to orders, deliveries, and invoices in coordination with vendors and internal departments.

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with warehouse staff, production teams, and finance to align purchasing with operational needs.
  • Work with the Production Scheduler to adjust purchasing schedules based on demand fluctuations or supply chain disruptions.
  • Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Communicate any delays or changes in supply to relevant departments.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels in ERP systems.
  • Assist in preparing reports on purchasing activities and cost analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or inventory management, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication skills including speaking on the phone with vendors.
  • Proficiency in inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in a manufacturing setting.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • May require lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
