Purchasing Director

Overview
We are seeking an energetic and strategic Purchasing Director to lead our Purchasing Department. You will oversee all purchasing activities, develop sourcing strategies, and manage supplier relationships to ensure the seamless flow of materials and services essential for our company's needs. The Purchasing team includes 4 Buyers, 6 Assistant Buyers, and an Inventory Control Specialist. Our Company is East Hardwood Company, Inc. East Hardwood Company, Inc. is a family-owned, fast-paced lumber yard, serving both commercial and residential eastern NC customers for over 90 years, and we now have 5 locations serving Carteret and Onslow counties.

Essential Duties and Key Accountabilities:

· LMA

o Hiring and development of employees

o Delegates responsibilities to employees to allow more time to manage Purchasing

o Clearly sets expectations & holds employees accountable to those expectations

o Delegates & empowers employees to maximize performance & efficiency

· Inventory Management

o GMROI focus

o Maintain proper stocking level and communicate that to the Buyer

o Agility: Suggested order management and maintenance

o Warranty – Products liaison

o Product(s) expert liaison – assist with product training

o Inventory/Receiving Accuracy

o Cycle Counting Process

· Cost & Price Management

o Weekly Commodity Pricing Updates

o Communicate market changes weekly to sales and CEO

o Focus on item variances with suggestions to Yard Operations to solve big issues

· Purchasing Strategy

o Futures/ Basis Trades

o Vendor Relationships/ Vendor Programs/Rebates/Vendor Product training

o Contracts

• Commodities

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

· 10 years of management experience, including multiple areas of the company

· 2- or 4-year degree in Purchasing, Distribution, Sourcing, Supply Chain or equivalent experience

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

· Experience in forecasting, planning and logistics

· Adept problem solver using data and analytics
