Purchasing Manager

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing function across our expanding property portfolio, including student accommodation, private rental, commercial units, and construction/development projects.

Working closely with senior management, project teams and operational sites, you will oversee purchasing activity, supplier relationships and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead purchasing across operational sites, developments and refurbishment projects.
  • Source materials, operational supplies, equipment and plant hire.
  • Manage supplier relationships, pricing, agreements and performance.
  • Verify invoices, resolve discrepancies and support finance processes.
  • Support project purchases, track deliveries and coordinate logistics.
  • Oversee stock control, inventory systems and inter‑site deliveries.
  • Resolve product issues, manage returns and quality checks.
  • Improve purchasing processes, systems and documentation.
  • Line-manage and support the Purchasing Coordinator.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills — you'll be managing suppliers and deadlines with confidence
  • A collaborative working style — you'll be operating as part of a close-knit leadership structure where key decisions are made collectively, and you'll thrive in that environment
  • Previous purchasing or procurement experience, ideally within construction or a related trade environment
  • Based full-time at our LE3 0GH office
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure — this is a fast-paced SME where priorities shift and you'll need to juggle multiple things at once
  • Proactive and detail-focused, with a practical mindset and the ability to hit the ground running
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where decisions are made quickly and you're close to the action
  • A relevant qualification (such as CIPS) is a bonus, but we're more interested in hands-on experience
