Purchasing Manager – Government Contracts

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Job Summary

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities supporting government and defense manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services on time, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with federal regulations. The Purchasing Manager will oversee supplier management, negotiate contracts, and ensure adherence to FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other government contracting requirements while supporting production and program schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to support government and defense programs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure compliant and cost-effective materials.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities meet FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support government audits and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Program Management to align purchasing with business objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and optimize ERP/MRP system utilization for purchasing and inventory control.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to purchasing staff to ensure a culture of compliance and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or government contracting required.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and compliance-driven procurement processes.
  • Experience with AS100/ISO9001 QMS
  • Skilled in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
