JOB DESCRIPTION PART – TIME PURCHASING & PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing and Procurement Specialist to join our collaborative design team. This role plays a vital part in bringing our design concepts to life—managing the coordination and implementation of FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) selections for our projects.

Once a design is approved and ready for purchasing, this specialist takes full ownership of the project through the procurement phase. They will manage vendor communication, scheduling, and coordination with clients and trades, ensuring that every piece arrives, installs, and shines as envisioned.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creative collaboration with operational excellence — someone who can move seamlessly between team meetings, spreadsheets, vendor calls, and on-site installation days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the project post-design approval: manage all procurement, scheduling, and coordination from purchasing through final installation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during the procurement phase — keeping the design team, trades, and clients informed through regular updates.
  • Purchase furnishings, finishes, lighting, décor, and materials that align with approved specifications and budgets.
  • Coordinate delivery and installation logistics, including warehouse communication, white-glove delivery scheduling, and on-site management on installation day.
  • Track and manage all purchase orders, lead times, vendor communications, and any change orders or substitutions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation: maintain current purchase records, contracts, and invoices.
  • Reconcile invoices and payments — verifying that all procurement items are accurately billed, paid, and recorded for financial reporting.
  • Communicate proactively with designers to resolve sourcing challenges or changes in availability.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION

This position is classified as an independent contractor role. Contractors are responsible for managing their own schedule, providing necessary tools/equipment, and fulfilling tax obligations. Saltbox Design Co. will not withhold taxes or provide employee benefits.

  • Classification: Independent Contractor | 1099
  • Hourly Rate: $40 - $50 /hour, based on experience.
  • Schedule: Part Time | Approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Location: Hybrid | On-site as needed in Englewood, Co.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with demonstrated responsibility for ordering, vendor communication, and order management.
  • Experience in an interior design or adjacent industry (architecture, furnishings, custom fabrication, or home goods) is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Collaborative communicator who enjoys working closely with both creative and operational teams.
  • Proficient in managing design logistics — including budgets, schedules, procurement documentation, and vendor coordination — while maintaining a creative eye for aesthetics.
  • Resourceful and professional, with a proactive mindset and strong follow-through.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to lift 30–40 lbs during installations.
  • Experience with Studio Designer preferred but not required.
