Purchasing & Receiving Associate

As a purchasing and receiving associate at Mountain Hardware and Sports, you will assist with daily receiving and purchasing operations, organization, and tracking management of inventory received. This role ensures product availability and helps keep vendor relationships running smoothly. You will build purchase orders, place and check-in orders when received as well as ensure merchandise products are received in proper condition and fulfilled to order’s specifications.

Work location: on-site (Blairsden location)

Schedule: full-time (40hrs/week)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with finding products, answering questions, and providing detailed product knowledge
  • Place purchase orders (PO’s) with vendors based on inventory levels, sales trends and special orders
  • Track open purchase orders, follow up on late or incomplete shipments and resolve discrepancies
  • Within assigned categories, conduct sourcing, negotiate and award contracts/purchase orders that ensure the correct amount of the product or service is received at the appropriate time and at the most favorable cost
  • Process and document returns, damaged goods or warranty items
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in POS and inventory systems
  • Organize and prepare incoming merchandise, ensuring that items are ready to be efficiently moved to the sales floor
  • Assist with processing, receiving, loading and unloading merchandise
  • Review and compare packing slips to purchase orders to verify that the correct items and quantities have been received
  • Use strong organizational skills to manage the flow of merchandise and maintain an orderly receiving area
  • Communicate with other departments regarding fulfillment discrepancies

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Must have ability to lift up to 100lbs
  • Must have ability to use a ladder
  • Ability to operate pallet jack and box crusher
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Ability to use provided computer, programs, and technology-based equipment when needed
  • Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced, confined environment while maintaining focus and efficiency
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work indoor/outdoor for 8 hours daily in varying seasonal temperatures

Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 / hour
