Purchasing & Sourcing Manager

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing & Sourcing Manager to oversee procurement and material planning functions critical to our production operations. This role ensures the timely sourcing of raw materials, packaging, office and operational supplies, with a focus on food-grade ingredients, quality compliance, and cost-efficiency. The position also manages importation logistics, tariff classification, and coordination with customs and freight providers. Cross-functional collaboration with Production, QA, Sales, and R&D is essential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Business Administration
• 4+ Years purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience in food or cosmetic manufacturing or a related regulated industry.
• A high degree of competency with the Microsoft 365 Suite of programs
• Excellent communication skills and experience working across multiple teams.
• Experience with import logistics, including Incoterms, customs clearance, and coordination with brokers and freight forwarders.
• Working knowledge of HTS codes, FDA import requirements, and Incoterms.
• Strong Excel and ERP/MRP system skills; experience with Deacom is desirable.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Able to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with QA, R&D, and Production team.
• Preferred: General knowledge of food-grade raw materials, food safety programs, packaging materials, hazmat and traceability requirements.
• Preferred: Experience working in a small/medium manufacturing company

WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES:

• Building and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, and evaluate supplier performance on quality and delivery.
• Independently own and manage the purchasing and sourcing process, operating as the primary point of contact with minimal supervision.
• Plan and manage raw material and packaging inventory to ensure availability for scheduled food production and customer orders.
• Place and track purchase orders in alignment with forecasted demand, safety stock targets, and lead times.
• Source food-grade ingredients and packaging materials, ensuring all vendors meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards of our Quality Team.
• Coordinate imports and international shipments, including documentation, customs clearance, and freight logistics (air, ocean, LTL).
• Assign and maintain proper HTS (tariff) codes and ensure import compliance with FDA, USDA, and CBP regulations.
• Work cross-functionally with Production, Sales, and R&D to support product demands or to share market updates regarding lead times or cost changes.
• Support QA with supplier documentation and material traceability for audits and compliance.
• Attending industry trade shows to meet with suppliers or source new ones

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
