Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our operations team. This role goes beyond traditional purchasing — it combines classic procurement functions with strategic sourcing and supplier development. The successful candidate will not only handle day-to-day purchasing activities but also work closely with JASC Engineering, outside machine shops and specialty vendors to evaluate supplier capabilities, maintain cost and ensure the successful production of custom components for both continuing production and new product development.

This position plays a critical role in balancing cost, quality, and delivery to support our manufacturing and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Source, negotiate, and procure a variety of materials, components, and services needed to support manufacturing operations and new product development.
Manage MRP & development driven purchasing activities, ensuring material availability to meet production schedules.
Collaborate with machine shops to understand technical requirements, obtain competitive quotes, and ensure capability to produce high-precision components.
Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to drive long-term partnerships, cost effectiveness & quality.
Monitor supplier relationships and address issues impacting product availability & delivery.
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated strategic sourcing capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong relationship skills and the ability to build and maintain a robust supplier base.
Experience working with MRP or ERP systems to manage purchasing processes.
Understanding of machining and manufacturing processes, with the ability to assess vendor capabilities.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
