Our Home is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Purchasing Specialist - Packaging to support purchasing within our packaging operations. This role requires strong expertise in film and corrugated materials. Reporting to the Packaging Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Specialist - Packaging will manage blanket purchase orders across multiple manufacturing plants, support vendor communications, and contribute to packaging development and optimization efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain blanket purchase orders in NetSuite ERP system (BPOs) for packaging materials across all plant locations; monitor usage, balances, expirations, and supplier alignment
  • Act as the liaison between plant buyers, suppliers, and accounts payable to resolve PO discrepancies and ensure smooth procurement operations
  • Support supplier onboarding, pricing updates, contract tracking, and accurate data entry into ERP systems
  • Maintain procurement reports, trackers/KPIs, and dashboards to support visibility and compliance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements
  • Assist in strategic sourcing projects and initiatives, such as developing new sourcing strategies, conducting spend analysis, or implementing category management programs
  • Analyze packaging material usage, cost trends, and vendor performance to identify opportunities for cost reduction or process improvement
  • Assist in packaging standardization, SKU rationalization, and sustainability efforts (e.g., downgauging, recyclability)
  • Maintain and update packaging specifications and documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, packaging engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement or packaging engineering, preferably within the CPG or food industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in film and corrugated materials including sourcing, performance testing, and cost analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with sourcing and procurement software.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites or manufacturing facilities up to 10%
