Key Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control panels, and lighting systems. This includes tasks such as cable laying, gland installation, and lug crimping.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to plan and execute electrical projects.
- Inspections and Testing: Inspect electrical components (transformers, circuit breakers, etc.) and systems to ensure proper installation, operation, and safety compliance. This involves using a variety of testing devices to diagnose issues.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify electrical problems and carry out repairs or replace faulty wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand and power tools.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out according to local and national electrical codes and safety standards to prevent hazards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work performed and materials used.
- Collaboration: Work with other team members, contractors, and engineers to seamlessly integrate electrical systems within construction or renovation projects.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- License: A valid Wireman License or equivalent state certification issued by the relevant State Electrical Licensing Authority or PWD.
- Experience: Proven experience as a wireman or electrician, typically a minimum of one to two years.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, blueprints, and electrical codes/regulations.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
- Physical Dexterity: Good physical condition, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in various settings.
