Job Summary
Role: Python AI Developer – Cheminformatics / Bioinformatics
We are seeking a highly motivated Python AI Developer with a strong background in Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology to join our growing scientific AI team. The ideal candidate will work on advanced AI-driven scientific modeling, molecular data analysis, and predictive systems for chemical and biological applications. This role involves applying machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI techniques to solve complex problems in drug discovery, molecular design, biological data analysis, and scientific prediction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models for chemical and biological data using Python.
- Build and optimize machine learning and deep learning models for:
- Molecular property prediction
- QSAR/QSPR modeling
- Bioactivity and toxicity prediction
- Omics data analysis (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics)
- Apply cheminformatics techniques such as molecular fingerprints, descriptors, similarity search, and scaffold analysis.
- Work with bioinformatics datasets, including sequence data, structural data, and biological annotations.
- Develop generative AI models for:
- De novo molecular design
- Chemical space exploration
- Protein or peptide sequence generation (where applicable)
- Implement and fine-tune graph-based models (e.g., GNNs) for molecules and biological networks.
- Perform statistical analysis and data visualization for scientific insights and validation.
- Collaborate with domain experts, data scientists, and software engineers to integrate models into production-grade scientific platforms and APIs.
- Stay current with advances in AI for drug discovery, cheminformatics, and bioinformatics, and translate research into practical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
- Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with cheminformatics or bioinformatics libraries, such as:
- RDKit, DeepChem, Open Babel (Cheminformatics)
- Biopython, Scanpy, PyTorch Geometric, or similar (Bioinformatics)
- Familiarity with molecular representations (SMILES, InChI, graphs, fingerprints).
- Knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and scientific data visualization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly for scientific datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with drug discovery pipelines, molecular docking, virtual screening, or structure-based modeling.
- Familiarity with graph neural networks (GNNs) and molecular deep learning architectures.
- Exposure to MLOps, model deployment, REST APIs, and scalable AI systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for scientific workloads.
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and collaborative software development practices.
- Research experience, publications, or contributions to open-source scientific AI projects are a strong plus.
Education
- Degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience in scientific AI or computational research will also be considered.
