Job Summary
HCL is seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to lead and execute complex data migration initiatives within the semiconductor domain. The role involves migrating large-scale, high-integrity datasets across legacy and modern platforms, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and minimal disruption to manufacturing and business operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, SQL, and data transformation frameworks, along with experience handling engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain data in semiconductor environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end data migration lifecycle: assessment, extraction, transformation, validation, and loading
Analyze legacy systems and define data mapping and transformation rules
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
Ensure data quality, integrity, and reconciliation during migration cycles
Work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, and application teams
Handle large-scale datasets such as:
Manufacturing (MES) data
Product lifecycle (PLM) data
Supply chain and inventory data
Perform data profiling, cleansing, and validation checks
Automate migration workflows and validation scripts
Support cutover planning and execution with minimal downtime
Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies and migration issues
Maintain documentation for migration strategies, processes, and data lineage
Skill Requirements
Technical Skills
Strong programming experience in Python (data processing, scripting, automation)
Advanced proficiency in SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, stored procedures)
Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DataStage, or custom Python pipelines)
Solid understanding of:
Data modeling
Data warehousing concepts
Data validation techniques
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred)
Familiarity with big data technologies (optional but preferred)
Domain Experience (Preferred)
Experience in Semiconductor industry systems , such as:
MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
ERP systems (SAP preferred)
PLM systems
Understanding of:
Wafer fabrication processes
Yield data and engineering datasets
Supply chain and production planning data
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work in cross-functional and global teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
Experience with data governance and data quality tools
Knowledge of AI/ML-based data validation or anomaly detection
Exposure to DevOps/DataOps practices
Certifications in cloud or data engineering
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
Other Requirements
1.Relevant certifications in SQL, data analysis, or Python are a plus.
