QA Intern

The QA Intern will support the Quality Assurance team by gaining hands-on experience in asphalt materials testing, plant operations, and field quality processes within the construction industry. This internship is designed to provide exposure to laboratory procedures, field testing, asphalt production, quarry operations, and overall operational coordination while working alongside experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the lab mix design process and materials testing.
• Support laboratory testing procedures including gradation testing, specific gravity testing, and other quality control tests.
• Observe and assist with field density testing on active road crews and project sites.
• Participate in asphalt plant laboratory testing and observe daily plant production operations.
• Visit quarry locations to gain exposure to aggregate production and material processing.
• Attend operations meetings to gain understanding of scheduling, project coordination, and daily operational planning.
• Attend safety meetings, VDOT district industry cooperative meetings, and other industry-related meetings and training opportunities as available.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while promoting a “Safety is for Life” mindset.
• Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn in both field and laboratory environments.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Interest in construction materials, asphalt operations, or quality assurance/testing.
• Strong willingness to learn and work in both indoor laboratory and outdoor field environments.
• Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively with operations and quality teams.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
